So everyday I’m just learning different instrument frequencies. Also aesthetics.īased on what I listen to, I don’t find the Schiit stack as appealing. If you like mellow tunes, longer listening sessions or have a pair of cans that require hell lotta power to drive with warmer side of being generally neutral tone then the Schiit stack delivers. People recommended going balanced out on the Jot2 as its more punchy and neutral, but it isn’t as technical or perhaps neutral as IFI. What would you suggest I go with? Also, I noticed Amazon lists the exact same DAC with AKM convertor instead of what the RME site has listed with ESS, with the exact same wording/paragraph (could this be an error, or AKM was used prior to ESS in the same DAC?). I do also listen to hip-hop, pop music while I'm wasting time on the internet, and for these I would prefer warmer sound signatures. My preference is neutral, clear and crisp sounds as I listen to mainly orchestras, jazz, live recordings, and piano/guitar based songs. However, due to shipping+import charges the Schiit stack will cost the same as ADI-2 FS DAC from Amazon.ca. ZEN DAC VS SCHIIT STACK MODBy the time I sold my IFI Stack, Jotunheim Silver No MOD 230V (I plan to take it with me to another country in a few weeks so 230V is required) is out of stock at 6-8 weeks, and I can't wait that long. Ofcourse for longer listening times I would turn it down a bit, and liked the subtle warmth it added.īut now I'm comparing between the above stated DAC and Schiit stack. However the DAC V2 wasn't as loud, and while the CAN added the loudness I required and sounded pretty clear, I just wasn't satisfied with it as to clarity at higher volumes (70% ish). There was clarity but juciness to the sound, and then for hip-hop I would occasionally switch to the DAC V2 direct as the truebass feature worked pretty decently. So I recently sold my IFI ZEN CAN and ZEN DAC V2, which I used fully balanced with the HD800S.
